Internship Positions Now Available
2007 Season

THE WEST MICHIGAN EDGE SOCCER CLUB INTERNSHIP PROGRAM

 
OVERVIEW

 

 

The WEST MICHIGAN EDGE SOCCER CLUB can offer today’s college student a unique opportunity to work at a challenging and unique sports and Entertainment Company.  We have an organizational capacity to offer a wide variety of internship positions throughout the year.  Opportunities may fall into the following categories:

The Edge staff recognizes the requirements of each intern can vary by program, major, school, and personal preference.  We have thoughtfully designed our internship program in conjunction with colleges and universities in the area.  By working directly with these institutions, we feel we have created a program that is not only flexible enough to accommodate an intern’s varying career preferences, but it is structured so each intern can complete all academic requirements.

Our mission is to attract motivated men and women from a variety of academic disciplines who have a clear interest and commitment to a career in sports and entertainment venue marketing/management.  We feel we can offer interested candidates the most comprehensive opportunity to gain college credit while attaining the skills and experience to compete for positions in a variety of related industries.


SPONSOR/MARKETING INTERN
(Off-Season – January through March)

 

 

The “off-season intern” will be responsible for sponsor research and lead generation.  This would include identifying prospective local companies and collecting primary contact information.  Additional responsibilities would include revising and managing prospect communications, designing and building a sustainable sponsor sales tracking system and helping develop sponsor proposals and programs.  Requested Skills/Experience: Highly motivated and organized; competent computer skills; sales experience preferred; sports and/or sponsorship background is a bonus.  Requested Availability: an estimated 10-15 hours a week.


 

SPONSOR/MARKETING INTERN
(In Season – March through September)
(In Season – March through September)

 

The “in-season sponsor intern” will be responsible for sponsor fulfillment and servicing.  Specific activities would include managing promotional details and/or sponsorship events procuring promotional or premium items, managing premium item inventory, assisting with game day sponsor elements (field boards, promotions, hospitality, halftime, etc…), managing sponsor ticket distribution and requests, game day sponsor verification/confirmation, tracking sponsor agreements, and developing an in-season sponsor communication program.  Requested Skills/Experience: Highly motivated and organized; competent computer skills; sales and/or marketing experience preferred; sports and/or sponsorship background is a bonus.  Requested Availability: Game days, plus an estimated 10-15 hours a week.




(Off-Season – January through March)

PUBLIC RELATIONS INTERN  
(In Season – March through September)

 
(Off Season - January through March)

 

The “PR intern” will be responsible for supporting PR content creation efforts and ongoing communication programs.  Specific activities would include developing potential story lines, working with 3rd parties to develop features, drafting weekly newsletters, editing articles for online publication, tracking editorial calendars and managing/updating relevant editorial contact list.  Other activities could include monitoring and posting online articles, maintaining media lists and developing a clipping program, as well as an ongoing media communications program.  Requested Skills/Experience: Solid writing and organizational skills; competent computer skills; some PR experience preferred.  Requested Availability: an estimated 20 hours a week.

 

GAME OPERATIONS INTERNS

 

(In Season – March through September)

 

 

The “Game Operations Assistant” interns will help with various aspects of game day planning and execution.  Primary responsibilities will include helping to manage volunteers and game day staff, assisting with game day planning and working all (TBD) home games during the season.  This opportunity also includes your participation in pre-game operations meetings, inter-department planning meetings and game day captains meetings.  Requested Skills/Experience: Ability to manage people while working under pressure; strong attention to detail; good follow through and ability to process multitudes of diverse information; strong computer skills; well organized and team oriented; some labor (includes lifting).  Requested Availability: Must be available for all home games (TBD) and committed to work long hours the day of games, including weekends and nights.
