Who We Are

The West Michigan Edge USL Premier Development League (PDL) men’s team is the highest level of soccer in the state.  We are a semi pro team that plays during the summer months using mainly college players to help further their careers.

Edge Soccer is the leader of player development in West Michigan.  In the last five years, the Edge has promoted more than a dozen players to the professional ranks; including the MLS, A-League, Division III, and professional indoor and international levels.

USL Premier Development League

In 1986, USL was founded under a single principle – player development.  As the years passed and the professional game once again returned to prominence, that mission has stayed the course in the USL Premier Development League.

Designed to help develop players for professional careers, the USL PDL allows players primarily under the age of 23 to perform in a professionalized setting while maintaining their college eligibility.  The league brings together the recent and current college athletes, elite high school players, and savvy veterans, producing and environment that is ideal for player development.  By operating during the summer months, the system allows college players the ability to retain their amateur status while staying on top of their game during this otherwise soccer-void period.

Besides providing players with experience in a professionalized setting, the USL PDL also provides players with a valuable networking opportunity for furthering their careers following graduation.  As a member of the USL family, USL PDL coaches and administrators have extensive ties and relationships with peers at the professional level in addition to connections to a myriad of clubs abroad, increasing a player’s opportunities to advance into the realm of professional soccer.
